MRC's Basic Skills Skaters Take Home 7 Medals at "Skate Your Heart Out" 2016!

On Monday February 15th 4 skaters from MRC Basic Skills program attended the Skating Association of Maine’s “Skate Your Heart Out” Basic Skills Competition. Midcoast Recreation Center Skating School’s skaters had a great time, skated beautifully, and medaled in every single event they entered! Earning 6 Gold medals and 1 Silver, The Results for the afternoon were: Margaret Kivus - Basic 3 Elements - Gold and Basic 3 Program - Gold,
Sophie Baker - Basic 4 Elements - Gold and Basic 4 Program - Gold,
Jed Salvatore - Basic 6 Elements - Gold,
Miranda Dodge - Basic 8 Program - Silver, and
Team MRC - Basic 4-8 Team Compulsories Event - Gold (Team members- Sophie Baker, Miranda Dodge, Lillian Nelson, and Jed Salvatore.)
MRC is incredibly proud of all their skaters and coaches and congratulates them all for their hard work and accomplishments!
MRC Skaters Pass 10 Tests at Test Session in Augusta!

On Monday February 15th, at the Ice Vault in Hallowell Maine, skaters from the Midcoast Recreation Center Skating School in Rockport, Maine took part in two figure skating events. In the morning skaters from MRC attended an official United Skates Figure Skating test session. During a test session skaters perform a series of maneuvers, edges, turns, pattern dances, jumps and/or spins based on the level and discipline of their test(s). Testing allows a skater to move up within the U.S. Figure Skating structure working towards either skating credentials or determining their levels competition. The 10 tests passed that morning included:
Gail Curtis; Pre-Preliminary Moves in the Field, and Pre-Preliminary Freeskate,
Greta Curtis; Pre-Preliminary Moves in the Field, and Pre-Preliminary Freeskate,
Kimberly Roman; Pre-Juvenile Moves in the Field,
Alexia Hilt; Cha Cha and Fiesta Tango Ice Dance tests,
Jenna Taylor; 14-Step, European Waltz, and Foxtrot ice Dance tests to earn her full Pre-Silver Dance Test.

$38.00 - Lower Level Rows at Side/Ends of the rink
*This is what we typically purchase and already have a block saved*
Also avail by special request:
$18.00 - Upper Level Rows at Ends of the rink
$68.00 - All Upper and Lower rows of sections D,E,F W, V, U.

You may mail a check, cash or check in person, or we can invoice you through email
(plus a $1.50 per ticket fee for Credit Cards)
Please email before sending payment to request tickets and arrange for payment(s).
If we sell 40+ tickets we get to view the skaters warm up in the Pre-Show.
If we sell 100+ tickets we also get signed passes and a skater visit and photo-op during the warm up!

MRC Skaters Pass USFS Tests at Skating Club of Brunswick!

MRC Skaters Alexia Hilt and Jenna Taylor attended an official USFS testing session hosted by the Skating Club of Brunswick on Monday January 18th.
Alexia Hilt, coached by Adam Smith, passed her first Moves in the Field test - Pre-Preliminary MIF.
Jenna Taylor, coached by Molly Spindler Smith and Adam Smith, passed her Juvenile Moves in the Field test!
Congrats to both skaters and their coaches on passing your tests! We are so proud of you at MRC!

MRC SKATERS PASS 9 USFSA SKATING TESTS!

MRC had two skaters attend a USFSA test session hosted by the North Atlantic Figure Skating Club at the Travis Roy Arena today, who passed a combined total of 9 ice dance tests!
The skaters, Jenna Taylor - coached by Molly Spindler Smith and Adam Smith, and Alexia Hilt - coached by Adam Smith, did a great job showcasing their hardwork and skills each to a panel of 3 judges in order to pass their skating tests with many compliments and praise from the judging panel! Great job ladies!
